The gorgeous 2017 Acura CDX has been introduced at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show, but at the moment this is just the small crossover for the Chinese market. We say, at the moment, because Honda’s luxury division should bring it to North America. The US specs CDX will either hit the upcoming 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show or the 2017 NAIAS in January. In any case, the interesting high-riding vehicle should not suffer any big changes, so we already know what to expect for it.
2017 Acura CDX: Engine Options
At the moment, the 2017 CDX offers just one engine, which might change with the arrival to North America. However, officially the crossover uses only a 1.5-liter turbocharged four cylinder unit that’s able to develop around 182 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with an eight speed auto transmission. Potential owner can choose between four-wheel drive and all-wheel drive systems.
As for the some other drivetrain, we are not so sure now, but we will found out more in the upcoming days. If you want our opinion, they might introduce the all-new 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. This engine isn’t officially introduced yet, so the manufacturer could present both the new crossover and engine at the same time. For instance, the 2017 CDX will fight against Buick’s Envision, which uses a 2.0-liter turbo engine with around 252 hp, so except of the base 1.5-liter mill. Honda’s luxury division should introduce something else and more powerful.
Angular and Luxurious Styling
Someone would say that the 2017 Acura CDX looks too aggressive, yet we say it is amazing piece of metal. Moreover, the carmaker used plenty of details form the Precision Concept, which fits perfectly in the brilliant crossover. The front end is really dominant with its mesh grille and ultra-aggressive headlights, while the large openings on the bumper definitely keep the engine cold. The fog lights are also very interesting and pretty unique. Car’s sides are really dynamic, while the rear end looks quite angular. Every single part is rumpled on its own way, so the hatch attracts everyone’s attention.
The carmaker hasn’t shown the interior of the crossover, so we can’t say for sure what’s inside. However, we are absolutely positive it won’t be borrowed from the Precision Concept because it’s too extreme and still unacceptable. The Japanese manufacturer will rather go for something conventional, yet highly luxurious.
As for the price range, it’s still too early for some precise figures. The predictions are that the base 2017 Acura CDX won’t be priced under $35,000. On the other hand, fully loaded crossover with all-wheel drive will be around $45,000.
