Honda is one company that has played an important part in the development and evolution of superbikes. Similarly, the new 2017 Honda CBR1000RR is like a dream come true for sports fanatics.

This new model has been completely redesigned to offer best of the best. With superior upgrades, this new bike ensures a serious performance. Although this 2017 CBR1000RR is a limited edition, it is fully street legal. To offer an array of engine performance choices, this model has been offered with throttle-by-wire technology which also makes it the first CBR to incorporate such.

Chassis

It all starts with the chassis of this 2017 Honda CBR1000RR. As its sidewalls have been made thin by the optimization of material mass allocation, the makers have been able to shed 600 grams. This causes not only its performance to increase but also increases fuel efficiency.

This has been done on the swingarm and subframe as well to increase the diameter of its rear axle with which 300 grams have been reduced. To reduce the use of materials in certain areas, the fairings have been minimized; the engine covers have been optimized which exposes the motor surfaces. As the mid and upper fairings have been pulled inwards, the overall width is reduced by 18-24 mm.

To optimize further, the wheels now bear a 5 spoke Y shedding instead of the old 6 spoke Y shape design. This not only sheds down 100 grams but also enhances aerodynamic performance.

Powertrain of 2017 Honda CBR1000RR

As a significant mass reduction has been done, the power output has been increased by 10 HP. This has also caused the speed redline of the engine to increase from 12,250 rpm to 13,000 rpm.

The compression ratio of this 2017 Honda CBR1000RR has been increased from 12.3:1 to 13.0:0, bore and stroke measurements have been retained. The exhaust system is made out of titanium which saves 6.2 pounds.

A new slip-assist clutch system has been used which decreases the pull force required on the lever by 17%. 2.9 pounds of mass is saved by a new titanium fuel tank. This material is used on any mass storage bike for the first time. Saving up more mass is the new lithium ion battery which has half the weight of a lead-acid battery.
