2017 Honda Freed: Engine Options

The base model of the 7-seat multipurpose utility vehicle will use new 1.5 i-VTEC engine. Now, the Japanese carmaker still hides the output numbers, yet we got the information it will have 130 horsepower and 114 pound-feet of torque. Except of the impressive output, the unit will also feature notably better fuel economy due the Integrated Motor Assist and other improvements like improved block cooling, piston oil jets, as well as direct injection.

As for the second drivetrain, we can’t say anything official, but we know it will be the SPORT HYBRID i-DCD setup, which will be paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. So yes, the old five-speed automatic gearbox will be canceled.

Changes and Specs

As for the styling changes, like you may notice, the 2017 Honda Freed is looking really handsome. The interesting bodywork is truly different from the predecessor, and pretty aggressive for this kind vehicle. The front end styling seems very streamlined, while the completely redesigned grille and headlights makes the new Freed quite attractive. Around back, the MPV sports flat pretty flat hatch, but with interesting taillights. From our point of view, the exterior design is rather evolutionary. It doesn’t inherit Freed’s previous cues, but Fit’s current styling. Yes, as we see it, the 217 Freed is just enlarged Fit and nothing else. Still, the measures are pretty impressive because the MPV gets 4,250 mm in length, 1,695 mm in width and 1,710 mm. in height. This definitely promises plenty of space inside, but since we haven’t seen the interior yet, we can only assume.

Price

The manufacturer has not released any official information that regards the price range or future trim levels. We expect that the all-new 2017 Honda Freed should cost around $16,500.
